We are partnering with Career and Professional Experience (CAP/X) at The School of the Art Institute and Lawyers for the Creative Arts to continue the Art + Law Thursdays series on Thursday, November 8th. Practice Pointers Selling Art—the Gallery and Legal Perspective features special guest, Arica Hilton of Hilton Asmus Gallery, in Chicago’s River North Art District. The gallery specializes in modern and contemporary paintings, works on paper, mixed media and sculpture with a special focus on photography. Join us to learn about contract terms, setting prices, attracting gallerists, clients, and collectors, and strategies to build a strong business.
Arica has had a thirty-year career in the arts, starting with a background in architecture and design. She has curated art for major design projects, handled large scale touring exhibitions, and forged a first-of-its kind and highly successful art publishing company. She will provide insight to how gallerists select artists and advice on how to develop in the industry as a photographer, fine artist, video or multimedia artist.
Marci Rolnik Walker of Lawyers for the Creative Arts will add perspectives on the legal and business issues involved in gallery sales under the Illinois Consignment of Art Act—and overall digital and print sales.
This program is free and open to all! RSVP here!
